Honestly, I think this is breathtakingly beautiful. It has brilliant characterization and packs a huge emotional punch.

An amazingly good AU - Sam makes a really great wolf. I love that they still turn out to argue like the brothers we know. Good characters and great sex, but also a pretty decent plot and some interesting cases to keep things moving along.

When the wall crumbles for good, Sam loses all touch on reality, and Dean soon follows suit. Without any other options, Dean consults Castiel, who proposes an extreme solution: soul bondage.

Magnificent. I love the gradual pull, the way Dean and Sam really aren't already secretly lusting over each other as we often see. There is no safety net here, no prior deeply hidden lust that only gets shown once a curse or spell pulls it out. That common trope simply isn't in play. The boys really don't want this. They really are just brothers. The author does a fantastic job developing this story. Loved it!
My only complaint? Is that I wish the ending was a little less abrupt - sequel??? Plllleeez!


Better Than Moonshine by riyku

After publishing a few dime store paperbacks and one novel that scored decent critical success, Jensen's in a bit of a rut. He's got an editor breathing down his neck, an overdue novel that needs to be written, and a week-long workshop to lead on beating writer's block. To top it off, he has a vicarious one-night stand, and now the guy keeps showing up all over the place. It turns out that a little petty larceny, a car crash, and possible blackmail--all in the name of fun--might be exactly what he needs to kick-start his writing again.

Really really good. A story that is fun, but still very heartfelt. It is full of great moments where the scenes just popped out at you- made you feel and touch them. The author has lovely form with her words.

Been a while, huh? Well, in case you were wondering - I'm still here. I've never really gone into a lot of details about my real life on here and I don't really want to start now. I was just in a bad place with very little time. Things are .. better. I think.


I was able to check my email every so often and even popped online a couple of days. So to those of you that sent me holiday gifts and wishes - Thank you so much. I'll be responding to you personally soon. I'm sorry I haven't done it sooner. When you've had a bad day or are feeling kind of hopeless, finding a well-wish email or a pretty pic sent to you personally can really make a difference. Just those few moments can make a person feel connected and are sometimes the best moments of the day. So again, to all of you, thank you so much. I hope your holidays were wonderful. I hope (the very scary) year of 2012 is treating you all really good so far.

I was actually able to read some fic in the last couple of days. Mostly some older stories that were stored on the iPad from forever ago, but they were still enjoyable. And while reading Redemption by ancastar (still loving that bondmate concept!) I got an urge to find some real AU worlds. So when I had a few minutes today I dug up some dragonfic. Queensguard is, of course, the first thing that came to mind. But I also found a few more I hadn't read before. Nothing new, sadly, but very enjoyable...

This is also the man that told me he thought Bruce Willis was dead within about four minutes of watching the 6th Sense - he ruins *every* movie that way. The only one I ever beat him on was Kiss the Girls because I recognized Cary Elwes's voice in the intro. He does this all the time and because he's usually right it is annoying as hell.

Please tell me that someone, somewhere is working on a Supernatural / Walking Dead crossover. Please.
Hell, I'll even take Gen or Het at this point.

Oh dear, this is breathtakingly beautiful. The slow careful buildup is spot-on perfect. The emotional ties that are slowly woven together became this tight knot of love family home that feels so very very right.
(I must admit that on the technical side I'm confused about the cell phones, but it wasn't enough to affect how very lovely this is.)

I just thought this was really well done. It's a story I can connect with. Jensen is a little bit helpless and lost, but not because of some great tragedy. Just because life isn't perfect and sometimes it's all you can do to get by. It's painful in that realistically raw sort of way.

It's kinda dark and touching. Set in a post-apocalyptic world were a darkside Sam and a struggling Dean still crave each other. And oh yeah, Castiel is coming to grips with what being human really means.
(Not to mention my grandmother (my Granny!) taught me that rhyme in the title as a kid. (One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight, back to back they faced each other...)

A really good, nicely thought out parallel universe. Just so you know, the ending made me cry. And Dean is beautiful in this.

Tagging along for the end of the world has its perks - like epic road trip sing-alongs, drinking with angels and demons, and Missouri Moseley’s waffles. But playing the hero, Chuck learns, is harder than it looks - especially when your new best friend is a fallen angel.
Okay, so hasn't heard about this? *crickets* Yeah, that's what I thought.

An excellent, as aceofannwn pointed out, "bromance". Although I'm a firm believer that in canon Chuck is not just a prophet, I'm quite happy with this fic version. And I really liked how the steamy parts were also cracky and funny, but, ya know, steamy. Epicness, srsly.

I love reading a well done Supernatural AU because they are just so rare. I really like how in-character they boys' relationship feels.

Okay, so I *finally* got around to reading this. I was looking for another Supernatural AU and, of course, this was given high praise everywhere. Like often happens, I initially resisted because I just didn't think it would appeal to me. But then I clicked. And after about half an hour I - once again- knew that I should have listened to fandom a *long* time ago and read the damn thing. Because it is awesome! So many things to *squee* about. I loved the continuous sexual allure/tension that surrounds the boys. I really like how it spans years, giving me a deep world to sink into and enjoy for more than twenty minutes! And then eventually crossing with Firefly?

I have to be honest, I wasn't going to read this at first. I love JDM, but I am not a fan of him being "with" one of the boys. So when I realized the first few parts were actually a pretty good romance about Jeff and Jensen I was turned off. Still, this has gotten a lot of great reviews- as a J2 fic. So I persevered. Now, I may have been speeding through the Jeff/Jensen shippy parts, but I could tell the writing was really good- even for something I didn't like. Then things changed. Suddenly it became amazing and brilliant. A fandom classic, for sure. The characters were witty and interesting and the drama was pitch-perfect. Angsty, but not over done. And the romance? A real kind of thing, not a saccharine sweet bowl of sugar. This captures the old feeling Made Of Win perfectly!

WOW- very nice AU. One of the more interesting concepts for Mpreg I've read. Now now folks, don't be that way - I rarely go for mpreg either. But this? One of those rare few that don't make me want to cringe and click the back button as quick as possible. In fact, I'm hoping for a sequel!

I adore dystopian future fiction. This is plotty, includes well developed characters, and is ultimately exciting and steamy-sweet. I have always enjoyed the 'look' and 'feel' created by cyberpunk and/or steampunk. I think it is so... evocative. This fic has the same kind of feel!
