Down and out in Bogalusa, where the summer sun don’t shine, just burns and churns and turns so bright ... All I can hear in my head is Louis Armstrong's rasping gravelly voice singing "...Bright blessed days...dark sacred nights. And I think to myself...what a wonderful world." The other lyrics of the song don't have anything to do with it, but those just keep filtering through my head. Honestly, the writing style in this is not anything like the things I typically enjoy, but this one really is beautiful. Its poetic and lyrical, with a burning and heat that inflames from under the skin. Its all feeling and touch and hedonistic warmth.

But then maboheme has that gift, you know? Bedtime Stories is one of the most lovely little Jensen&Jared pieces I've ever read. Again, that hedonistic warmth and poetic rhythm slide over your skin, only in this one tender and sloppy with a lightness that infuses the best kind of J2 stories. As it tells you, these are the kinds you listen to. Absolutely lovely, both of them.

Wincest AU. Sam and Dean, growing up and growing closer together in the ordinary world. I'm not sure how I missed posting about this when I read it almost a year ago. But when I stumbled across it again I found it tore me up just as much the second time around. Hauntingly beautiful. Dean being fragile like this makes my heart clinch. I love how wonderful John is to both the boys in this. Anyway, I'm sure most people have read it as not_refined is well known for some really amazing stories. Like the Still Life 'verse. The damage done to Dean only makes him more beautiful. The innocence and struggle of life that make up the fabric of Dean and Sam's life in that story is breathtaking. These two stories just really touch something deep in me.

Jared thinks his life sucks (even if he denies feeling bad about). He starts college, which he didn't want and he swears he will not make friends there. But then he meets another student, a boy with emerald eyes, who draws and draws, and draws . . . Jensen is an amazing artist, he's mysteriously shy, and Jared finds himself fascinated to the point of obsession. Can anyone explain to me why stories like this are so immensely intriguing to me? I mean, yes, the writing is good and I like the characters and all that, but why is young, confused Jared and a 'damaged' Jensen so mesmerizing? (And I mean that in terms of 'damaged!Jensen', not as in someone with his disability being damaged, k?) Is it the childlike innocence that somehow can merge and weave seamlessly with mature, adult actions? I honestly don't know why, but stories like this always snag my attention. When they are written well then its a win-win for me - this was, btw, a win-win.

A miscommunication results in a hurt 10-year-old Dean and a heart-to-heart between Sam and John. AU - deaf!Dean. Schmoop! This is a short little thing, but it is absolutely touching and darling. Little Sam was adorably cute, Dean is more of a concept - and him being deaf is just plain interesting to me, and John is very John, but maybe he'll get a clue in this world. Anyway, I really really wish this were a larger 'verse. The author did the characters great and I love the emotion of the story.

Dean gets some tail, literally, after a run in with a nix. You would think that between the title and the story summary this is going to be a crack fic, or at least cute and funny. And it is. Its got some funny moments where Sam is huffing at Dean being insufferable, some sweet parts where Sam is especially worried about Dean, and others where even Sam has to grin at Dean's sly maneuvering. But its also more than that. Its a very interesting, unique story, with some subtle dark moments. But really, my favorite is the alternate ending. The subtilty dissolves and the dangerous beauty that are Dean and Sam is mesmerizing.

You’re working with four out of five senses, John always tells him. Four out of five. Those are Sam’s numbers, the definition of his being, the handicap that describes who he is, the only thing he’s ever going to be. Beautiful and very well done story. Somewhat haunting and broken, but yet also not... Just a story about a family and their lives, the good and the bad. I love that Dean and Sam are just as close in this world as in canon - that they 'talk' so much. I love that they fight like any other brothers, but still love with that special Winchester fierceness. The last one makes you hate and pity John at the same time. Yet you know John wouldn't be so fucked up if he didn't love so very intensely. Just like his boys.

When you were five, you met your father for the first time. This is not in a style I usually care for. Its stark with almost no dialog. But its very well down - there is a stillness to it, like a lake of deep pain that is so full but still and quiet on the surface. Its sad, but with a hopeful ending. It makes you stop and think and visualize what Dean is perceiving, all the while telling you exactly how it is in a detached sort of feel.

I am not a big fan of Evil!Sam or Sam as the 'antichrist'. (In fic, lets not talk about the show, k?) And although the sex is technically 'het', it really is Sam/Dean Wincest.
However, I don't want to sound like I didn't like it. britomart_is is a talented writer and made a plot I wouldn't normally care for a good read. Quality writing is kind of awesome like that. And if you do happen to like Evil!Sam then you really will love this.

A grieving Dean is pulled into an alternate universe where a much more hardened, cold Sam is working to get his Dean out of hell. Though Dean doesn’t want to go back to his lonely world, he aids Sam in his dark quest, a Sam torn between the brother he’s fighting to save and the one right in front of him. A slightly dark fic. After Season 4 and seeing the kind of path Sam would choose, this Sam is completely believable. He's kind of hard-headed in that he truly believes his way is the only way. His desperation and devotion to Dean are as strong as ever, but to him there is never a question if the ends justify the mean. Dean, on the other hand, feels very season 1 to me. Which I love, of course. He's totally devoted to Sam - in any form. Yeah, this is an interesting read.

(Not darkfic) You know that hazy, heavy saturated feel you get on a hot night in the Deep South? Like that. There is an almost visceral feel to it, in a heart-pumping edgy tension way. (Again, not the darkfic bloody way.) The writing just flows and ebbs in a perfect pounding force. And the boys - unable to complete sentences and thoughts at the end.. Fuck yeah was my immediate reaction.

A family tragedy during a hunt redirects the lives of the Winchester's in a way they could have never predicted. Yes, its gen. Even has het off to the side later on. So this fic isn't perfect. It has its stylistic and writing flaws. However, you know those stories that if you analyze and take them apart you find fault, but taken as a whole there is something very interesting and appealing about them? Where some parts are so great you love it all? This, for me, was one of those. There is something about a damaged Sam, about John learning how to be a real father, about Dean getting a golden life that is just so appealing.

So I didn't read this when it first came out, but rebekahfair posted a Big Bang fic and it got me to looking at her other stuff. How much of a dork does it make me that I got a kick out of to read that Sam has boxers and Dean has briefs? Meaning while I personally like boxer-briefs on a guy and that is the sexiest image to use in fanfic, its nice to think of them in something different? Not so cliched. LOL, yeah I'm a dork. Anyway...the story is good, but its just a start. The author was hopeful that they would be able to come back to this after they finished the Big Bang, I'm hoping so too! I think this could be a nice long drawn out story and while I've seen a few good short Smith/Wesson fics I don't think there is anything really epic set in that 'Verse.

Jared's young, free and single – and finds when Jensen Ackles and his three devil children move in next door that he doesn't want to be. Jensen just wants to be left alone and find some peace. I really like this story. I like the, basically, 'love at first site' form of Jared's attraction. Or well, the depth and intensity of work he puts into making that attraction into something more. I don't really know why, I just do. It makes it mean more maybe? Anyway, the secondary characters - Jensen's kids - are really nicely fleshed out. They've each got adorable personalities and I like that Jared recognizes that. With bits like this:

how can you not like this story? *grin* But don't let that fool you. There is some angsting and usting in there, along with a sad back story everything. So yeah, I liked it... And I have to say, I may even like Jared's friendship with Jensen's son Scott best of all!

Not to mention, a great crossover where all the characters were completely IN character. The plot was also steady and true. Just all around nice job.

End of the world stuff - zombies, Revelations, aliens land, the machines take over - whatever. I just get can't get enough of it. So this fic was just *boom*, my right there, oh yes spot exploded. We all know thatdreamlittleyo writes great stuff, I don't have to go on about that, do I? S'good stuff, man. (I was diggin' the Mad Max/Resident Evil:Extinction caravan feel!) Also, there's is the wincesty lurve & sex, so all is good.

LOL. I don't know if I've ever felt this ..dirty.. reading a fic before. Oh, its not the fics fault. It has some great schmoopy sex scenes, but nothing really dirty. No, its because its football fic! Instead of a highschool or college romance, its a football team romance. In real life I've - well, lets just say I'm closely connected to a football program and, lol, this feels so kinky for me to read. lol. But its good! A nice feel good J2 AU romance. With manly men and pigskins. lol

But yet this is a complete J2 AU. I thought this was going to be a porn with plot - lots of phone sex and little else. Happily, I was wrong. Oh, there *is* hot phone sex. But there is a plot. And sweetness. And adorable Jensen. All shy and cute. Its all happy ending and stuff, but a nice sweet read.

Dean is back from Hell and he is ragged and tired. He dreams of Hell. So Sam decides its time for a vacation. Yeah, all kinds of lovely.

This is AU to season 3. Things could have gone this way. Its a darker demony Sam. (huh, imagine that. Sam using demon powers....) It's mostly them as just brothers, but the Wincest does appear. It's angsty and sad and lovely to read. Sam and Dean have been saving one another for their entire lives.
And yeah, they really really have. We've seen this dynamic before. Determined-to-save-Dean Sam and Live-It-Up Dean. But yourperiphery proves once again to have a solid writing style that just pulls you in. I would've enjoyed a sexed-up Epilogue, but the tension that builds is good, giving a hint of what kind of release will come.

Wow. This was rec'd over at crack_impala as a blast from the past. I hadn't ever read it. Wow. Oh, wow. Bottoms Up by broadwriting is fucking awesome. Or is that awesome fucking? tehe. All about those Texas boys and sex. Seriously hot.

OMG. OMG. Where did I get this rec?? I don't know, I can't remember. But thank you sooo much to whoever I got it from. This fic is massive amounts of awesome. For You as Yet by elanorelle. Its a Sam/Dean AU. Mary never died, there are no demons. Just Dean and Sam growing up. Dean going off to school, Sam fighting with John. And, oh yeah, love and desire. Sam's been in love with his brother his whole life... One thing I really enjoyed about this fic was that while Dean was still very much 'Dean', the roles are reversed in that he's the one to go off to college while Sam is still stuck at home. Sam doesn't handle that very well. It makes me think that would probably be what would happen. Sam goes off to college and it hurt Dean, but he never rebelled. He was still Daddy's little soldier. But if Sam were staying and Dean left? Well, in this fic I think its only because they were raised 'normally' that Sam didn't actually either get himself killed or try to physically fight John. Anyway, I enjoyed it, maybe you will too.

Okay, I don't usually go for 'kink' fics. I mean, I have things that really get me, but for the most part they are pretty vanilla. I mean, hell, family schmoop does me every time. And while I've read pretty much every type of kink out there in some fandom or another, I don't really 'go' for them. Still, I've come to appreciate that in the hands of a good writer with the right background, pretty much anything can be a good fic - sexy, touching, whatever. Something worth the time to read even if you really aren't into whatever it is the characters are doing. So that is why I actually enjoyed Flooding (you and me) by oxoniensis. A short Dean's back from Hell fic featuring "watersports". Yeah, piss and sex aren't really things I connect with, but it is a good read. Sam's love for Dean is lovely. And Dean - awww. I just want to hug him.

In Darkness We Descended by elanorelle
This is lovely and sad and a bit hopeful. Not technically Wincest, but its easy to read it that way if you want to.

The Death of Jensen Ackles by gilascave Jensen and Jared are friends-with-benefits until something happens that changes everything. I thought this was gonna be all schmoopy. But while there were some incredible sweet, tummy fluttering moments, there was actually a bit of angst in there. I also love the humor of the boys that shine through. And Jensen's quiet moodiness. Its all there. Very nice J2 fic.

Okay, this will probably be one of the very few times I'll read something that isn't Sam/Dean. I like crossovers when they are well written. There was that awesome one that had the boys going off to Hogwarts, remember! So, I just felt like given this one a try: Weight and Motion. sevenfists has some other good stuff I've tried so I figured I'd give it a whirl. I'm glad I did! It is a Supernatural/Firefly crossover featuring Dean/Mal. It was well written and the characters were pretty well fleshed out. Anyway, I enjoyed it even though I didn't think I would.

I so wish I could write decent reviews. I really really can't. I just get all twisty in my gut and make high pitched 'mmffgghhh' sounds when a fic is really good. So short of *fangirl squee* I can't really equate that down in words. But then, that isn't why I post this stuff. There are plenty of people out there who can write amazing reviews or catalog things so well you can find anything you want. I only post because I want to share. I guess I feel someone out there might have read the same thing or want to read the same thing and read my post and think 'oh hell yeah'. Also, so the writers know people are reading. That we are there, and loving their work. Anyway, my point is I can't do justice to a lot of the stuff I like to *share* with you about. Like this Sam/Dean fic. It's sorta fractured and broken and beautiful. And, of course, very sexy. The author says: The second time that Sam Winchester falls in love, it’s sudden, abrupt. There are no roses and Sam’s been wearing the same t-shirt for a solid week. He won’t realize what has happened for months

I know we've all moved past the 'How Dean Gets Out of Hell' thing, but I still enjoy season 3 fics, so:

not breaking the deal, just twisting it a bit. Followed by 'I love my brother' sex. Very nice. As always, Merihn, writes it all with a longing and grace that I love.


I'm not a big fan of genderfuck stories. I mean, I like *slash* for a reason. So if one of the characters gets slapped into a female body, then it's not really slash anymore. In this fandom, still Wincest sure, but not slash. So usually don't care for genderswap stories, but especially those that don't have the guy(s) changing back at some point so it still is slashy. However, I read As We Are So Wonderfully Done With Each Other by sweetestdrain today and I actually liked it. I actually enjoyed it. I think mostly because it 1. didn't treat the switch with too much comedy, but the right amount of struggle and angst it deserved and 2. because Dean - the non-switched one- had to really come to terms with Sam being a woman. More so even than Sam in some ways. The writer actually did a beautiful job of it. It just goes to show you that even a crack-cliche can be good in the hands of a good writer. Kudos.

It's got a plot which is based on the romance between the two boys, but with enough hiccups and bumps along the way to make it plausible. Good sex and bad sex. Awkward bad sex is awesome. With enough snarkiness to be funny, enough insight to be a poignant and drama to twist your guts just a little. And of course enough lurve to make your heart flutter. *sigh* *iz giggling*

I just kinda love Dean. Like a lot.

John Winchester walks the badlands, lost on the Path of the Dead, when he meets two mysterious men: a pair of hunters chasing the same ghost that he is, who tell him that he's wound up more than twenty years in the future. They promise to get him back to his own time - back to his young children - but refuse to tell him anything about themselves. The three men find themselves entangled with the warring spirits of the land, but John is pursued by nightmares and caught up between the two hunters, who are keeping secrets that John doesn't understand. I'm not giving anything big away when I say the two brothers are Dean and Sam, obviously.
It's long and complex. I don't really understand some of it. But this story is hauntingly beautiful. Full of native american mythology and southwest imagery. Loving, longing and family are twisted and send you on emotional highs. I really enjoyed it. For all that I really only want to read Sam/Dean fics, I very much like it when John is there . He adds a level of emotion to Dean that no other character can pull from him. For all that their live wasn't normal, I think Sam and John had a more 'typical' father/son relationship. But Dean, father, hero, friend, commander and demon all rolled into one. Anyway, the fic was lovely.

Jared doesn't think there's anything wrong about him having a bit of a crush on Dean Winchester. The first reply on the authors comments is this: DUDE. I can't emphasis enough how hot this is. So, so sexy. And how do you manage to do the flail-inducing porn and still have such awesome characterization, OMG? left by zooey_glass04 and it totally the exact thought in my head! Porn, but *awesome* porn. Characterization is PERFECT - and it managed to actually have Dean in a J2 fic without it being *supernatural*. *squee*

*sigh* Such a good read. The summary reads: There's no easy road when it comes to sex with your brother, you just have to guess a lot. This story really made me think about the nature of Wincest. They boys say the word 'incest' openly, with full understanding of what it means and how it relates to them. Sam has great insight on exactly who Dean is to him. And Dean... *awe*. So cute. He really doesn't know how to handle this and his awkwardness is just adorable. My only complaint is that its only about 8,500 words. Anytime something just clicks together so well like in this fic I want to read more more more. But alas, not for this fic.

Just a little fic about Sam wanting something of him and Dean to hold on to. Sam wanted a photo of Dean, better yet, one of them together. Dean, being Dean, doesn't want to cooperate. It was a decent half hour read. The last paragraph, was very touching.

So this is one of the very first J2 fics I ever read. In the those early weeks of sucking in EVERYTHING I could get my hands on I read this. It was the one that made me say 'yeah, I can so do RPS in this fandom'. It was so cute and sweet and hot! But in the midst of my reading frenzy I lost it. Now I've found it again. Hmmm.. so glad. And, lol, the real personalities of the boys seem much clearer now after really getting into the fandom. Jared's yen for sweets and Jensen's reserved nature - I had thought those were parts of the writer's imagination. Didn't know they truth behind them. So I'm very happy I got to read it again!

I don't normally like reading unfinished fics. I get to antsy waiting for updates. But I started reading this one before I realized it wasn't finished. And it so good I had to keep going. So this is only up to part 3. There will be 1 more part coming soon, I believe.

This is how you can write scenes that are hot, funny, sexy and yet tragically painful at the same time. Oh poor Dean. I don't know if I've ever loved him as much as I did in that first post-coital moment. It's like a ragged little tear in a shiny silky red cloth. Part one was a broken beauty, but then part two just smashed and crushed me. The third part, while painful, brought flutters of sunlight on our boys. I can only hope the fourth part will mend them. It's a lovely story and I hope others take the time to read it.

And that's all for tonight, I think. Off to WATCH SEASON 4 - OMG!!!!!!!! I waited just long enough to skip commercials.

There are no demons, only night terrors. There are no funerals, only family in-fighting. What would Sam and Dean be like in a world without demons? This is an AU fic where Mary didn't die and the boys don't hunt things. The writing was decent, but I loved the world that was created more than anything. There are 5, not 2, Winchester boys. Each with their own quirks and personalities. However, there is still and always will be a 'Dean and Sam'. I was late to work because I just really wanted to finish this one.

Hmm. I'm not usually one for the 'weecest'. Again, its so odd what I like in this fandom. I really liked just turned 15/16 Draco/Harry.But this is really good. And hot hot hot. I kinda feel a bit dirty reading it, much less liking it. Te. One thing that I found unusual was that it wasn't Sam running after Dean basically begging him for it. Dean was obsessed with Sam. Nicely different.

Okay, so this is sorta the 'weecest' here too, as Sam's underage. But its the more traditional setting in that Sam's in love/lust with Dean and Dean doesn't get it. Still, the writing is absolutely amazing. And the sex is hot. There is an OMC that sorta freaks me out - he's well done and fits great with the story. The concept of him just freaks me out! But I think the writer was going for that. John's kind of a jerk, but its from Sam's POV (not really POV, but his side of things) so it's expected. There were also some endearing and funny brotherly moment (John's sex talk with Dean and Dean's with Sam - very cute.)

Very beautiful fic. The writer's description is: He thought it would help Sam let go. Very hot, but touching scenes. I'm on meds for the cold or I'd give more detail. Point is - really nice simple Wincest read. Some underage as it begins when Sam is 16, if that matters to you.

wow. really good writing. Dean is married with a kid. He loves his family. That includes Sam, of course. Even if he never really understood all that meant... I hated and loved this story. It was full of love, of longing. It broke my heart in places. It was beautiful in others. But I'm a fool for happily every after, ya' know? I just... I don't want to walk away from a fic with lingering heartache. Not that this one does, really. I don't want to give away the ending, but it wasn't sad. Not really. Just not... ever afterish enough for me, I guess. But that's cuz of my kinks, not because the story wasn't amazing!

I love dating fic! I've just discovered that. Not the fic, but that I like it in Wincest. This fic has all the right parts. The slow exploration of sex and what they want to do. The learning of each other in social situation (Showed so well in this lovely fic: Sam thought that was the end of it, but when their waitress showed up with her notepad, Dean ordered a cheesesteak and fries, and then said, "And he'll have a Gardenburger." is just adorable. I love all that. What I also like about this fic is that it doesn't loose sight of them being brothers. Like this: Dean stared at him, eyes wide. "Dude, what? I'm not the girl, here."

"You're an asshole," Sam said, kicking at Dean under the table. He took a sip of his coffee: cream and two sugars.. !!!!

Kind of a twist on the genderfuck and bodyswitch themes. Its cute and fun. And the best part, for once I didn't really just hate Jess. I know, I know, a lot of people really like her. And she's okay, sometimes. But I don't usually like the idea that Sam might have really loved her - he supposed to really really only love Dean! So usually I only like her dead - memory Jess is okay. But this is cute enough that I kinda liked her. Plus she was a fan of the Dean hotness - damn straight the most fuckable lips ever.

Living, being together, loving, dieing, hunting. Its a good fic- nice writing style and interesting concept. And Dean is what he is best - adorably lickable. Enjoy.

finally, a noncrack genderfuck fic. Really really awesome, too. I don't usually like the genderfucks, mainly because I like the boy and boy lurve in this fandom. But this works. While the sex was hot, it wasn't all that. It was the entire rest of the fic that was so great. Dean was totally STILL Dean. Tits and all. And Sam still thought of him as Dean, not some girlDean. One thing I really liked was that the writer never just came out and *said* that, like "Of course he - she- whatever was still Dean." It was shown in how they interacted with each other. Also, the physical stuff didn't come because of the genderswitch, it just was. Very nice read.

See, I shouldn't like this. It's not only an AU, but it's one where the boys grow up not knowing each other. Not 'hunting things'. Not being Winchesters. Not being all the things that make me love them so much (as I said in my other post today). AND YET - this fic is really really really good. At the very core, they are still Sam and Dean. They were given completely different lives and yet there was no out of characterness going on. Bravo to the author, very well done. And, surprisingly, the brother factor was still put into play. In a really beautiful way, better even than a lot of 'regular' fics do. Also, lots of really sexy moments. Anyway, great writing and a very nicely thought out plot. Good fic!

Okay, I don't know what it is, but I can't get the kidfic crave out of my system. I'm obsessed with trying to find really good fics with Sam & Dean as parents. The best is Wincest, but even them just being brothers raising kids is good so long as mommy dearest is long gone.

Anyway, I adored Ben Has Two Dads Uncles by regala_electraand ignited. Crackish fun with a lot of great characterization.

I just finished today (that would be my day off I took from work to do some house cleaning and laundry and yet at 2pm, I just finished reading, so...) The Killing Moon by poisontaster. I really really liked it. Dark and angsty, hot and salty, with a decent plot and hella-sex, amazing characters and great insight into the Winchester men. Also, decent reactions from the characters about the gay sex and incest *issues*. For all the angst around him in this one, this feels more like the real John than many others I've read. I really liked him, even when he was being an ass.

However! It was a Mpreg and was more about the pregnancy and the boys' relationship than about being parents. Yes, it was great! But it didn't fill my kink. The sequel, however may just do that but it hasn't been written yet, so...

It's killing me! Must have kidFic! But I'm too picky, I want it to actually be *good* too. Not just fill the theme. *sigh* I think I got spoiled in Harry Potter - especially after DH there is just a lot of REALLY good kidfic there.

*sigh* I guess I'll go do the laundry...or not.
